Bounty Hunters, Crazy Neighbors, and Ex-Boyfriends – More Self Defense Gun Stories
U.S.A. – -(AmmoLand.com)- You probably didn’t see this news covered by the mainstream media, but again last week, responsible gun owners defended themselves and the people they love. Self-defense instructor Amanda Suffecool joins the Self Defense Gun Stories Podcast to look at four new examples. Were these gun owners lucky, or were they prepared? (17-minute audio)

Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.

First story- Are you armed when you’re behind the wheel?
You’re driving through downtown Philadelphia. It is almost 9 at night. A car pulls up beside you at a stoplight. The man in the car points a gun at you and says to get out of your car.

You own a handgun. You have your Pennsylvania license to carry. You’re armed tonight. You pretend to move the seat belt as you draw your firearm. Your attacker is getting out of his car when you shoot him. He drops his gun so you drive away and call 911.
Police find your attackers. The police call for EMS to transport the wounded robber to the hospital. The police arrest your attacker’s brother as the getaway driver. The two of them had robbed another driver at gunpoint only a few hours earlier and were sitting in the stolen car. The police said they have surveillance video of both attacks.
Second Story- Are you armed at home?
Your sister has a problem. She is arguing with her boyfriend by text. You knew things were getting bad when the ex-shot at your house and drove off. Your sister called the police, but she didn’t see the attacker. Now, you hear a crashing sound, another gunshot, and screams coming from your sister’s room. You grab your firearm and run towards the screams. You pull open the door and see your sister’s ex-boyfriend hitting her. He has a gun and she is bleeding. You shoot her attacker. Now her attacker stops hitting her and drops his gun. You stop shooting. You call 911. You give a brief statement to the police. EMS declares her attacker dead at the scene. They take your sister to the hospital to treat the gunshot wound on her backside. Police see your broken front door.
Third story- Are you armed at the office?
You work in a day-labor job center. It is after 8 in the morning when a stranger walks around the counter and attacks your female co-worker with a knife. She screams and runs past you. Now, the attacker charges you. You put up your arms in defense and the attacker cuts you. You’re armed. You draw your firearm and shoot your attacker. The stranger runs away.
Other people in the office call 911 and try to tend your wounds. You and your co-worker go to the hospital to have your wounds treated. Your co-worker has severe cuts to her head and may lose some use of her arm.
Your attacker is found a few blocks away. He is taken to the hospital to treat the bullet wound in his leg. Your attacker is charged with two counts of attempted felony homicide, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Fourth story- Are you armed in public?
Your neighbor is outside arguing with your family. That is when your neighbor draws a gun and shoots into the air. Your family rushes inside and the neighbor leaves. A while later your troublesome neighbor returns. He stabs one of you, a 41-year-old man. You’re a 67-year-old man and you shout for the attacker to stop. Now, the neighbor attacks you. You shoot your attacker once in the abdomen. Now, he stops. You and your family call 911.
EMS takes your attacker and his victim to the hospital.

Complex Lies and Simple Truths – Covid and Crime

February 24, 2021 by contrib1 Leave a Comment

Gov. Cuomo’s hypocracy is on full display with comments condemning alleged Trump tyranny.
U.S.A.– -(AmmoLand.com)- Life is complex. Sure, in the time of Covid you can tell everyone to stay home and starve, but they won’t do it. They won’t do it even though you’re emperor Cuomo of New York. Even with all your wealth and political influence, you can’t make people lay down and obey. They act for themselves, and soon they think for themselves.

Ordinary people are frightened by what they see around them. Of course, you can order gun stores to close by saying they are non-essential businesses, but criminals already have their guns. The thugs can always get more guns off the street.

Crime goes on, and crime goes up.
You let convicted criminals out of jail due to Covid. Crime increases. Of course, Governor Cuomo and the media act surprised. You let criminals back on the street due to bail reform, and crime goes up some more. The murder rate increases and you blame the police. Murders go unsolved, and crime goes up.

You stop the application process for citizens getting their concealed carry permits. You say it is for public health. You say you can’t allow person-to-person contact due to Covid. And again, the rate of street crime jumps. Carjackings nearly double.
The simple truth is that our politicians have a lot of power.
It is clear that the media can sell us a lot of spin disguised as news. It is equally clear that the lies only sound plausible for so long.
Eventually, the unsolved problems grow and the truth emerges for all to see. We ask ourselves the questions the media ignored. We learn that even the most powerful politicians can’t keep us safe. Again, the simple truth breaks through the woven veil of lies. Now, both the politicians and their media supporters look dishonest with their long strings of broken promises.
For us, that is a mixed blessing. The politicians and the media can make excuses, but we can’t. We can’t pretend that politicians will fix the problems of public violence now that we know how dishonest they are. Now, our safety is up to us.
That shouldn’t come as a surprise. Half of the adults in the US have a firearm. About one-in-ten adults have their carry permits or live in a state where they don’t need a permit to carry a concealed firearm in public. These people are just like us.
There are tens-of-millions of honest gun owners who picked up the responsibility to protect themselves and their families. These ordinary people carry that responsibility with them every day. You walk past them in the store and as you walk down the street.
Crime is increasing. Are you depending on someone else to keep you safe until the police arrive? Concealed carry is simple, but it isn’t easy. Tens of millions of us decided we didn’t have time to wait.

Armed at Home – More Self Defense Gun Stories

February 23, 2021 by contrib1 Leave a Comment

Shooting back at Armed, Masked Intruders Might be Legal
U.S.A. – -(AmmoLand.com)- You probably didn’t see this news covered by the mainstream media, but again last week, responsible gun owners defended themselves and the people they love. Self-defense instructor Michael Woodland joins the Self Defense Gun Stories Podcast to look at four new examples. Were these gun owners lucky, or were they prepared? (16-minute audio)

http://traffic.libsyn.com/dgustories/sdgs226.mp3
First story- Do you have a firearm nearby at night?
Your wife hears it first and she wakes you up. Now, you hear it too. Someone is hitting your front door and screaming. You get up to see what is happening. You walk into the front area of your house and see that someone has kicked in your front door. You hear a man screaming outside. You go back to your bedroom and get your handgun. Your wife runs to grab your three children. You step onto your porch and ask the crazy man to go home. He charges you. You present your firearm and shoot him. He stops and turns around, so you stop shooting. He walks a few paces away, and then turns and runs at you a second time. You shoot him again. He turns away and again you stop shooting. Your wife has called the police. They arrest your attacker. EMS takes your attacker to a local hospital where he died.

The sheriff talked about your attack on the news. “People have a right to be safe in their home… The evidence indicates that the resident acted in self-defense.” The news mentioned that your attacker had a criminal record that includes nine felony convictions and nine misdemeanor convictions including sexual assault and domestic violence battery.

Second Story- Are you armed at home?
You are about to start Sunday dinner when you hear someone scream for help. That sound didn’t come from the TV, it is from outside your home. You run outside and see your neighbor moaning on the ground and your neighbor’s wife screaming for help. A number of the neighbors call 911. You’re standing there trying to help when the victim’s adult son runs up. He was the one who attacked your neighbor. Now, in front of everyone, the son stabs his mom. You run back inside your home and grab your gun. When you run back, the attacker is still stabbing his mother. You shout for him to stop. When he doesn’t you shoot the attacker. Now he stops.
Police arrive and you give them a statement. You have to tell them twice that you’re 84 years old. EMS declares the attacker and his mother died at the scene. They life-flight your neighbor to the hospital. The attacker was charged with attempted murder 10 years ago, but only served four years in prison.
Third story- Do you have a firearm accessible early in the morning?
You hear a gunshot. You get up and move toward the sound. Your dad is in the garage struggling with a stranger. The stranger is hitting your dad with a rifle. You fight with the intruder and take the rifle away from him. Now you hold the attacker at gunpoint. Your dad calls 911. Your attacker was shot in the arm after your dad found him breaking into the car in your garage.
It is about 5 in the morning. Police take your dad, his attacker, and you to the hospital for treatment. You give a statement to the police. Your attacker is charged with Attempted Murder, Assault, Attempted Assault, Robbery, two counts of Menacing, Pointing a Firearm at Another Person, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Burglary, Trespass, and Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle. Your attacker was also charged with driving under the influence of drugs three days earlier.
Fourth story- Are you armed at home?
You’re started awake by the sound of breaking glass. You get out of bed, grab your gun, and walk into the center of your home. You see an intruder and raise your firearm. You shout for him to get out of your home. He turns and runs. You lower your firearm and call 911. You give police a description or your intruder and they arrest him a few blocks away.
Your intruder has been busy this morning. He is charged with two counts of carjacking along with home invasion, and it is only 5 in the morning.

The Lessons We Didn’t Learn from Mass Murder

February 17, 2021 by contrib1 Leave a Comment

Students are brought out of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School after a shooting at the school
U.S.A.– -(AmmoLand.com)- February 14th is the third anniversary of the attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkwood, Florida. If you’re like me, it is uncomfortable to stir that painful memory. I’ve studied that attack because it would be worse to see it repeated simply because we didn’t learn a difficult lesson. You might not remember, but the attack at Columbine High School was almost 22 years ago. The attack at Sandy Hook Elementary School more than 8 years ago. That is plenty of time for us to act so our children are protected. I have an uncomfortable prediction about the next mass murder. The next attack will be at a place that politicians told us was safe because law-abiding people like us were disarmed. It is time we looked harder.

Gun control is the promise that ink on paper will protect our children. That isn’t a new idea. We’ve had gun control laws for over a century. Today, we have over twenty thousand firearms regulations, and we were told that each and every one of them was the essential step that would finally make us safe.

We’re told that honest civilians should be disarmed, but the first thing we do at the sign of danger is called someone with a gun.
We were told that mandatory background checks would keep crazy people from getting firearms. That claim assumes that the government is always doing its job. The government might disarm a million honest citizens who are no threat to anyone, but that doesn’t stop the damage done from allowing a single criminal to get a gun. We know what happens next.

We saw background checks fail when a crazy man attacked college students in a gun-free zone in Isla Vista, California. Background checks failed when a crazy man attacked a prayer meeting in a gun-free zone at the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Background checks failed when the murderer passed his background check despite being a prohibited individual and attacked the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Those are the clear examples where we knew the murderer was crazy or criminal before he attacked, and he passed his background check anyway.
The murderer at Parkland, Florida got a gun despite people contacting the FBI and saying the former student wanted to commit mass murder. Most of us recognize that as a significant clue.
If gun control depends on perfection, then it is doomed to fail.
We can cite example after example where the murderer got his firearm without bothering with a background check. The murderer at Sandy Hook Elementary School murdered his mother to take her guns. The murderer at Red Lake, Minnesota murdered his grandfather, a tribal deputy, to take his firearms. The political leftists who tried to kill dozens of Republican legislators at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia was a prohibited person who took his guns illegally from his father.
It now takes over a year to get a carry permit in Detroit while criminals get a gun in minutes on the street corner. How will disarming more honest citizens make us safer?
Mass murder shocks us. In contrast, the news media barely reports the hundreds of people who are shot in our failed cities every week. If we’re going to talk about saving lives, then we have to look at the ordinary citizens who are the victims of violent crime every day.
Some politicians said we would be safer if law-abiding good guys were disarmed. Is anyone surprised that their gun control laws left guns in the hands of criminals who break the law for a living? Drug gangs easily smuggle a few ounces of steel, brass, and lead as they smuggle millions of people across the border, and smuggle thousands of tons of drugs each year. Are you surprised that prohibition doesn’t work? Gun prohibition only disarms the law-abiding, and that hasn’t made our cities safer.
I want to clear up a possible misunderstanding. I’m convinced that gun control leaves us at risk. I know you might feel differently and I beg you to hear me out. I think gun control laws put our children in danger, but that isn’t because I’m different than you are; it is because I’ve seen things you might not have seen. I’ve looked into the eyes of the police officer who ran toward the sound of gunfire to save kids. That officer arrived too late. I’ve listened to a victim who was shot by a mass murderer and survived. They both begged us to keep the kids safe until the police arrived. That is exactly what the investigators said after the attack in Parkland, Florida.
It is time we listened.. before it is too late.
‘I looked at the video, and we could have stopped him if someone inside the school had a gun.’

At Home, at Work, and at the Shooting Range – More Self Defense Gun Stories

February 14, 2021 by contrib1 Leave a Comment

A Colorado school staffer receives individual instruction during FASTER training earlier this year. Photo by Complete Colorado
U.S.A. – -(AmmoLand.com)- You probably didn’t see this news covered by the mainstream media, but again last week, responsible gun owners defended themselves and the people they love. Self-defense instructor Tony Simon joins the Self Defense Gun Stories Podcast to look at four new examples. Were these gun owners lucky, or were they prepared? (23-minute audio)

http://traffic.libsyn.com/dgustories/sdgs225.mp3
First story- Are you armed in public?
You’re walking down the street. It is about 9 on a Sunday morning. A man crosses the street in front of you. As you pass him, he hits you in the head. You stumble, and he punches you again and again.

You have your Washington state concealed pistol license. You’re armed. You draw your gun and shoot your attacker. He stops hitting you and runs away. You stop shooting. Neighbors heard the shots and called the police. You give a brief statement when the police arrive. Police arrest your wounded attacker a few blocks away. EMS takes your attacker to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound.

Second Story- Are you armed at work?
It is before noon. You are working behind the counter at a sporting goods store. You’re serving a customer when another man walks up to the case where you display handguns and ammunition. This man takes a hammer and starts beating the glass display case. Now, he climbs over the display case to get at the guns through the back of the display.
You have your Washington state concealed pistol license. You’re armed. You present your firearm and shoot the robber before he gets his hands on firearms and cartridges. Store employees run towards you, and all of you tackle the robber to the ground. Police arrest your robber and EMS takes him to the hospital.
Police identify the wounded robber as the person who threatened to shoot an employee during a liquor store robbery a few minutes earlier. Police also arrest the robber’s accomplice in the parking lot.
Third story- Do you have a firearm nearby at night?
You’re asleep in your bed when you hear a strange sound. You wonder if it is your family or something else? You hear it again and identify the sound of someone hitting your house and breaking glass. It is four in the morning. You get out of bed, grab your gun, and move to the center of the house. A stranger rushes toward you and hits you. You present your gun and shoot him. He stops attacking you. You back away and ask if anyone in your family is hurt and then shout for them to call 911.
Your family is shocked but not injured. You give a brief statement to the police. EMS says your attacker is dead. They transport you to the hospital to treat your injuries. You saw the front bedroom window your attacker smashed. Police say your attacker is from out of state. They believe he ran his truck into a ditch behind your house. Out of all the homes in the subdivision, no one knows why he chose yours. You are a veteran of the Vietnam war.
Fourth story- Are you armed at the shooting range?
It is just after lunch and you are standing in the lobby area of the shooting range talking to friends. You hear a disturbance behind you. A stranger is reaching into people’s range bags and touching their guns and equipment. Everyone shouts for him to stop. Store employees confront the man and tell him to leave the store. The stranger isn’t acting normally, so the store employees also call the police. You follow your friends outside because the stranger stayed in the parking lot and you want to warn customers as they approach the door.
Police arrive and call the stranger over. He refuses to approach them. A female officer walks toward the stranger to talk to him. The stranger moves toward the officer pulls a screwdriver from his pocket and stabs the female officer. You, the officer’s partner, and two of your friends shoot the attacker. Everyone rushes to help the wounded officer.
EMS transports the officer to the hospital. They also declare the attacker dead at the scene. You remain at the scene and give a statement to the other officers who arrive. Later, you heard on the news that the officer is expected to recover and that the police captain was grateful for your help.

Democrats File the First of Many Anti-Rights Bills Aimed at Gun Owners

February 5, 2021 by contrib1 Leave a Comment

The Biden-Harris ticket could spell the end of the Second Amendment if elected. IMG NRA-ILA
U.S.A.– -(AmmoLand.com)- Democrat politicians said they wanted to disarm us. The Democrats didn’t wait long. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said President Biden would love to see action on gun control.

The President promised to act on day one on this issue. This is an issue he is personally committed to.
Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee filed two gun control bills, House resolutions 125 and 127. This is exactly what we expected from Democrat politicians.

Lee’s bill HR 127 requires:

the registration of all firearms and ammunition held by civilians.
bans .50 caliber ammunition.
requires a mental health exam for you, your spouse and your family, or at least two additional friends who can attest to your mental state.
requires that the government license those mental health professionals who can perform mental health exams for firearm ownership.
bans all ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
establishes a national ammunition registry so the government knows what you own.
establishes a national firearm registry so that the government knows what you own.
mandates that gun owners purchase civil liability insurance.
taxes gun owners $800 each year.

Of course, there are exceptions to all these requirements. They won’t apply if you’re a politician or paid by the government to carry a gun.

Representative Lee’s bill 125 calls for:
a 7 day waiting period before taking possession of a semi-automatic firearm, firearm muffler, ammunition, or magazine.. except if you are paid by the government.
outlaw person to person transfers, except if you are paid by the government.
That was just a warmup. Now it really gets crazy as Representative Lee lists her justification for this bill.
Representative Lee claims:

There is nearly one mass shooting per day in the United States—355 mass shootings in 2015. Since December 2012, there have been at least 1,518 mass shootings, with at least 1,715 people killed and 6,089 wounded. (To reach those numbers you have to call the nightly carnage in Chicago and Baltimore “Mass Shootings”)
Each day, 92 Americans are victims of gun violence, resulting in more than 33,000 deaths annually. (We’re supposed to ignore that most of these are suicides and victims of drug gangs in our Democrat-controlled cities.)
There have been zero mass shootings stopped by armed civilians in the past 33 years.

This is a press release rather than a factual document. It is against the law for us to lie during sworn Congressional testimony. Evidently, it is allowed for congresswomen to present falsehoods as facts.
Let me refresh your memory. Remember that almost all of our mass murders were in “gun-free” zones where honest citizens were disarmed.  FBI’s own numbers showed that there were at least eight mass murders stopped by civilians. I’ve counted over a dozen.
Let me remind you of a few of these incidents. Think back to the armed citizen, Stephen Willeford, who lived next door to a church in Texas. He stopped mass murder with his AR-15 rifle. Remember Jack Wilson who was part of a church security team and stopped a murderer in his church. Remember the armed citizen who stopped a mass murder at a California synagogue.
We know that the number of people murdered when an armed civilian is present is fewer than 3. That number soars to about 15 when we wait for the police to arrive. Time is the enemy, not your honest neighbor next door who owns a gun. Exposing Representative Lee’s lies is as easy as researching our history.
Distracting ourselves with Lee’s outrageous lies misses a critical point. Honest US citizens defend themselves by the thousands every day. Our best estimate is that honest gun owners use a firearm to prevent a murder or violent crime over a million times each year. If it was you saving your family at night, then each event might save several lives. That estimate includes tens-of-thousands of sexual assaults that never became a rape. When we disarm the good guys and gals, then millions of our neighbors become victims of violent crime.
Honest US citizens defend themselves by the thousands every day.
Disarm her, and grandma doesn’t chase away a home invasion robber. Instead, the robber beats grandma. The co-eds don’t stop the sexual assault by an intruder in their home. Instead, they get raped and beaten. That is what Representative Lee wants. Democrats need violence to justify a police state.
This isn’t progressing towards greater human rights and freedoms. This is a return to feudal barbarism where the strong rule the weak and ordinary citizens are disarmed. Back then, only the rulers and their henchmen were allowed to own weapons and bear arms.. for their protection, not ours. That is what we see from politicians today.

Armed Security for Them
We don’t have government agents protecting us. We don’t hire teams of armed security. Until help arrives, it is up to us to protect the people we love.
The mainstream media will echo Lee’s lies. It is up to us to spread the truth.

At Home and on the Road – More Self Defense Gun Stories

February 4, 2021 by contrib1 Leave a Comment

At Home and on the Road – More Self Defense Gun Stories
U.S.A. – -(AmmoLand.com)- You probably didn’t see this news covered by the mainstream media, but again last week, responsible gun owners defended themselves and the people they love. Self-defense instructor Lauren Hartnett joins the Self Defense Gun Stories Podcast to look at four new examples. Were these gun owners lucky, or were they prepared? (21-minute audio)

http://traffic.libsyn.com/dgustories/sdgs224.mp3
First story- Are you armed at home in the evening?
It is late friday evening. You’re instantly alert when you hear your daughter scream. You and your wife run outside to see your daughter being hit by her boyfriend. You shout for them to stop. He hits her again, and you see that she is cut and bleeding from her face and her mouth. You’re armed. You fire a warning shot into the ground. Your wife runs up to the boyfriend, and the boyfriend hits your wife.

You present your firearm and shoot the attacker in the chest one time. Now, he stops, so you stop shooting. You, your daughter and your wife back away. You call 911.

EMTs take your attacker to the hospital in critical condition. News reports had an earlier mugshot of your daughter’s attacker. Police said your attacker would be charged if he is released from the hospital.
Second Story- Are you armed as you drive?
Your car was stolen a few days ago. Fortunately, the police found it in a nearby city. They said you had a few hours to get it towed before they would impound it. You drive your motorcycle to the address and check on your car. You call a tow truck. As you wait, two strangers come up and ask you about your motorcycle. You’re talking about your bike when one of the strangers pulls a gun and tells you to hand over your backpack. You’re being robbed.
You have your Washington state concealed pistol license. You’re armed. You hand the robber your backpack. The robber puts his gun in his pocket to take your bag. That gives you the opportunity you need. You draw your firearm and shoot your attacker several times. The robber draws his gun and fires, and then falls down. You call the police, as do the neighbors. You give a brief statement.
The news never said what happened to your car.
Third story- Are you armed at home in the afternoon?
You are at home with your girlfriend. You hear someone at the front door. It is your girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend. You don’t open the door. Your girlfriend has called the cops on this guy before, and she calls 911 again. You both retreat upstairs. Before the police arrive, the ex-boyfriend breaks through the front door. You shout for him to stop. You have your Michigan concealed pistol license. You’re armed. You shout again and you shoot the intruder as he reaches the top of the stairs leading to your bedrooms.
Now your attacker stops. Your girlfriend is on the phone with 911. You wait for the police and put your gun back in your holster.
The EMs declare your intruder dead at the scene. You show the police your ID, your carry permit, and the registration for your firearm. The police take your gun as evidence. You and your girlfriend go to the police station to give statements. Then, you go back home.
Fourth story- Do you have a defensive tool nearby at night?
You’re sleeping in your bed on a weekday night. You wake up when you hear glass breaking at the back of your house. It is midnight. Your family stays in their beds, but you grab your gun and move toward the noise. You see two men at the back window. One of the intruders opens the window and climbs inside your home. You shoot him. You tell him not to move or you’ll shoot him again. He stays in place. Your family calls the police.

Police arrest your intruder and his accomplice. EMTs treat the intruder’s wounded hip. The intruders are 18 and 21 years old. They are charged with home invasion. The neighbors noticed an increase in break-ins during the Covid lockdowns.

Self-defense instructor David Cole joins the Self Defense Gun Stories Podcast to look at four new examples. Were these gun owners lucky, or were they prepared? (24-minute audio)

http://traffic.libsyn.com/dgustories/sdgs223.mp3
First story- Are you armed when you arrive home?
It is eight in the morning. You’re arriving back home from working a late shift. You are walking from your car to your front door when three men get out of their car parked across the street. They shout at you and start running toward you. You can see that they are armed. You run for your front door.

You make it inside your home and lock the door. You grab your gun from the closet. Seconds later, the three men break through your door. You shoot them. They shoot back. Your wife yells at them to stop shooting because there are children in the home. The intruders tell them to get on the floor. Eventually, the rest of your family escapes out the back door. The bad guys are now outside yelling at you. They say they are the police. You stop shooting and yell for them to stop shooting. You put down your gun and walk outside with your hands in the air.

The three strangers cuff you and then beat you, including hitting you on the head with their guns when you’re down on the ground. Seconds later, several Harris county sheriff’s deputies show up because the neighbors called after hearing gunshots. The deputies find out what is going on. Your three intruders are bounty hunters after a fugitive. One of the bounty hunters is wounded.
Police arrest the bounty hunters and take the cuffs off of you. EMTs take one of the bounty hunters to the hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening bullet wound. They treat you at the scene. The fugitive the bounty hunters were after lived at this address two years ago. You and your family lived at this address after the fugitive moved away. The bounty hunters are charged with home invasion and aggravated assault. I wonder why they were not charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.
Second Story- Do you have a firearm nearby at night?
You and your family are asleep in your beds. It is about 3:30 in the morning when you hear someone banging on your front door. The stranger shouts that you’re in his house and you should get out and let him in. You look at your video camera and see a man with a gun in his hand kicking your front door.
You grab your gun and wake your family. Your wife and children get in an inside closet and close the closet door. Your attacker starts shooting through the front door. You shoot back. Now your attacker runs away.
You call the police. You show the police the video footage. They identify a man they know who lives in your neighborhood. Police arrest him and charge him with attempted murder, shooting in an inhabited dwelling, armed robbery, felon in possession of ammunition and felon in possession of a firearm. No one in your family had ever met the man before.
Third story- Are you armed when you buy a sandwich?
It has been a long day. You’re hungry, so you pull over to buy some food from a well known sandwich shop. A number of people are eating and ordering food. Two of the customers begin to argue. One of them pulls out a knife. That is when everyone leaves the shop..except you. You shout for the man to stop. You’re there when the man with the knife stabs the other customer. Now you run to your truck and grab your gun. You run back inside and order the attacker to stop. He stops the attack and retreats. You hold him at gunpoint until the police arrive.
Police disarm and then arrest the knife-wielding attacker. EMTs take the wounded victim to the hospital. From there, the victim is flown by helicopter to University Hospital. You have your Texas license to carry, and you show it to the police. You tell the police what you saw. The attacker had 29 prior arrests. This time he is charged with aggravated assault. The Kerrville police department called you to say thanks.
TAG- No shots fired

Fourth story- Are you armed at home late at night?
It is the middle of the week and almost midnight. You get a frantic phone call from your daughter. Her ex-boyfriend is following her, so she’s driving to your house. She has a restraining order on her ex. When she gets to your house, sure enough, her ex-boyfriend is following her in his truck. She pulls into your driveway, and he pulls in right behind her. She runs inside your home. You step outside and tell the young man he is not welcome and to go away. He walks toward you and then reaches for his back pocket. You think he has a gun. You shoot him in the hip. Now, he turns and runs back to his truck and drives away. You call 911.
The ex-boyfriend calls 911 a few blocks away. Police arrive and you and your daughter give a statement. The police said your daughter’s ex could face charges for violating the restraining order. EMTs take the ex-boyfriend to the hospital.
